LG50PZ250T 3D Full HD 1080p 3D 600Hz Plasma

Opinions of the LG 50PZ250T are generally positive, however, before we go into the features we will say this – if you like to play films from an external hard drive then you might have difficulties with the sound, this has been reported in various reviews, so if this is going to be a problem for you then look to another manufacturer. Another point to take into mind is that some have blasted this TV, saying that there’s a lot of crosstalk, however, this is most likely the fault of other devices such as the Blu Ray.

Also, remember that this not a Smart TV, if you want to throw that feature into the mix then you’re going to have to fork out more cash. At the time of writing the best prices for this the LG50PZ250T came in at around £550 or if you are really looking to save then Amazon has them used for even less.

Right, so what about the features?

  • Well at 50 inches it’s a monster screen and so you’re going to need supreme quality pictures to match, and that is exactly what you get. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without it after you’ve experienced the power of the crystal clear full HD 1080p *this is currently the highest resolution available on the market.
  • It’s got Freeview HD built in to it. Woohooo!
  • It’s great for not only 3D viewing but also 3D gaming and provides a real and immersive experience, drawing you into the game and heightening senses.
  • LG50PZ250T Front View

  • It employs the use of active shutter 3D, so unfortunately you need some glasses to go with it. Now some stores will supply you with them but other don’t. Be warned that they are expensive and can really add to the price of the TV. If you aren’t willing to shell out then look for a set that uses passive 3D, these glasses are far cheaper – you can even use the ones you, er “loaned” from the local cinema.
  • It boasts 600Hz, but this doesn’t really mean much as it’s a Plasma, and they are really fast so you won’t get any motion blur like you can do with other types of sets.
  • There is an energy saving option, so you don’t have to run it at full power all the time, also good for going easy on your eyes.
  • Setting it up and getting it running is easy, you can be done in 5 minutes – just make sure you set it to the right language, a simple slip of the finger can cause some serious frustration when you find yourself using Google translate to get the thing  sorted!LG50PZ250T Back View
  • When getting it set up, you’ll need 2 people to help screw in the base – doing it alone is asking for trouble.
  • You get 3 HDMI connections for hooking it up with various HD equipment, like Blu Ray and the Sky HD Box
  • If you like you can use it as a computer monitor – hook it up using VGA or HDMI connections.
  • You can also hook it up to the internet using an Ethernet port connection.

Overall, this is a quality set up at a reasonable price. When setting it up you may need to tweak the picture and some settings to get things perfect, in fact there is a whole detailed thread on the subject over at AV Forums which will help you get things sorted which is located here.
